KSD Bans Parents, Not Books

Remember when a mother was banned from KSD Board meetings for a year when she asked Board members to look at the graphic images she had been trying to get their attention about? Please watch this VIDEO and read the letter below (shared with her permission) that she received from the District. Was her behavior threatening? Do you notice how when the Board President tells her to email them she says they don’t respond to emails? What were her options? They effectively silenced her and moved on. And the exact illegal content that she was trying to show them is available to KSD kids TODAY!

KSD leadership wants you to think this discussion about sexual content being provided to kids by KSD is about “banning books.” The truth is this is about not wanting our public schools to continue giving children illegal sexual content.

KSD leadership proved in 2021 and continues to prove today that they are more concerned about themselves than about productively and responsibly addressing serious issues. And they are willing to follow a policy that effectively silences a parent, but not to follow policies and laws that protect children.

This parent was banned from a year of Board meetings due to this infraction. But KSD leaders refuse to address violating their own policies and laws and are STILL providing illegal sexual content to our children four years later.

The book Gender Queer that the parent was trying to bring to the Board’s attention is currently available to KSD students through Sora. The specific image the parent was trying to get answers about from the Board is available here (by clicking on this you affirm you are 18+, which is ironic because minors are being provided this by the Kirkwood School District).

Laws and policies matter. And your rights matter.

Please note that KFEI does NOT condone threatening or violent behavior toward Board members. This was clearly not that.
